Papilionidae

Swallowtail

A spectacular butterfly. The UK Swallowtail only exists in Norfolk and for me is an elusive species. My first visit in 2006 only yielded one long range glimpse. I didn't do much better in 2009 when one very small one was seen nectaring. (It was barely bigger than a Male Brimstone that it chased before just briefly feeding.) I did get a fuzzy long range shot of it but still decent shots elude me, as well as good views of multiple individuals. Maybe 3rd time lucky in the future?

2010 update: 3rd time lucky indeed! 17 decent Swallowtail closeups added to the collection!
